Practicum 2
"The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For, in fact the kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:20-21
The following practicum builds on the first. After you have spent a total of six hours with the first practicum move onto the following variation:
Begin as in Practicum 1
This time do not tense the muscles, just move them.
Then mentally "let go". Let go of all the tension and let that part of your body feel limp and heavy.
Imagine it sinking into the floor, heavy and relaxed.
If a muscle group does not respond then tense them as in Practicum 1.
Slowly work your way around your body. Work your way up your right leg, between your hips and down your left leg. Then begin with your right hand, arm, shoulders, left arm and hand. Next work your way up your torso, shoulders, neck, head and face.
Do this slowly and once completed simply enjoy the sense of stillness and relaxation.
Spend 20 minutes on the exercise.
Do not rush this variation, just move slowly and systematically around your body. If your mind wanders, do not worry. When you realise it is happening just focus back to the task in hand.
Like the previous practicum, spend a total of six hours with the exercise before moving on to Practicum 3.
